Malaysia jump four places

MALAYSIA improved their world ranking by four places to 159th position in the latest list issued by Fifa this month.
Malaysia were ranked 163rd out of 202 nations last month.

Malaysia's lowest position was 170th which they occupied last April while their best position was No 75 in 1993.

The national team also improved their position in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rankings by two spots moving up from 31st to 29th.

However, Malaysia are ranked only fifth among Southeast Asian nations behind Thailand (14), Singapore (18), Indonesia (20) and Myanmar (26).
The Malaysian team, under coach K. Rajagobal, will have an opportunity to improve on their ranking as the FA of Malaysia is in the midst of arranging several 'A' international friendlies before the 2011 Asian Cup Qualifiers against Uzbekistan in November.

The National Under-23 team, also under Rajagobal, are currently in China for a three-match tour.

They will face China's Super League club Shanghai Shenhua today.

Today's Premier League fixture: Johor v Felda United (Hassan Yunos Stadium, 8.45pm).
