Richards released from hospital

Micah Richards' neck injury is not as bad as first feared, with the Manchester City man being released from hospital.

The City star was carried from the field on a stretcher during the Blues' 3-0 win over West Ham United on Sunday.

Medical staff tended to the centre-half for 10 minutes before removing him from the playing surface, securing a neck brace to the problematic area in an attempt to reduce the risk of further aggravating the knock.

The England international suffered the painful problem after an innocuous collision with team-mate Tal Ben Haim

SIT OUT

Scans have confirmed no long-term damage, but the 20-year-old is facing another frustrating spell on the sidelines.

Richards will be regularly checked by doctors over the next few days to ensure the injury does not escalate, but he will definitely sit out City's UEFA Cup match against FC Midtjylland in Denmark on Thursday.
