NEGRI Sembilan coach Wan Jamak Wan Hasssan must be sick of the sight of Kelantan but there is a score to settle when the two teams meet in the Super League tomorrow. They will clash for the fourth time in a month. In their last encounter, Kelantan surprised Negri 2-1 in Paroi in the FA Cup semi-final second leg when they met the last time on April 18 to progress to the final on away goals. That defeat put an end to a 11-match unbeaten run for Negri spanning two months.
Negri, who have not played since, had previously won twice in Kota Baru, winning 1-0 in the first leg of FA Cup which followed a 2-1 triumph in the Super League on March 31.But now that the fixture list has pitted the two title contenders together once again, Negri are looking for more than just revenge at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi tomorrow."We're going to play Kelantan for the fourth time in a month and I think we are getting to know each other quite well," said Wan Jamak in Seremban yesterday.
"We've not played since we lost to them in the FA Cup but there is more riding on this match than just wanting to get even with them. To us, the three points are more important as we're still in the running for the league title and we need to close the gap on the leaders." Negri, fifth on 24 points, trail leaders Perlis by four points heading into 13th round of matches while Kelantan, third on 25 points but with a game in hand, will look to bounce back from their heart-breaking FA Cup final penalty shoot-out defeat to Selangor last week.
This time Wan Jamak will be able to call upon the experience of midfielders Rezal Zambery Yahya and Idris Karim, who were sorely missed against Kelantan last time out through suspension. "We were forced to use two young players as their replacements but with Rezal and Idris available, I will have more experience in the squad this time," said Wan Jamak.
